Few people know Maplebear (« CART »), whereas virtually everyone knows Instacart. Maplebear is the company’s legal entity, while Instacart is its trade name. Although this explanation is not official, the name Maplebear may refer both to Canada, where founder Apoorva Mehta grew up, and California, where the company was founded.
